I'm not sure how well this works
as a national agenda, but I am generally surprised at how little "making where we live better" plays out even in state and local politics. Sure there are a couple of things - cops/crime and schools - that always get attention, but otherwise it just doesn't seem to be part of the political conversation. It doesn't have to involve big projects, either. Promising to
solve the dog poop problem can be enough.
